The Principia Greece Abroad ’09

Learning about the economy in Greece is the focus of my independent study. I will study the impact that Greece joining the European Union and adopting the euro has had on hotels, restaurants, and museums. Price levels have increased since the introduction of the euro. I want to examine the impact that higher price levels have had on wages, employment, and the inflation rate. Also several new policies have been enforced in Greece in result of joining the EU. Through interviews and observations I will observe the impact of these policies on consumption and competition in the specific businesses I am studying. The project will be presented as an article with pictures to provide the reader with a feel for the business life in Greece and statistics in the form of graphs and charts. I believe that it is important to understand how the economy maneuvers in order to make wise decisions in business practices and in the creation of laws and policies.
